Before taking this course, you should have solid knowledge of how to use a graphical user interface, such as Microsoft Windows XP or Mac OS X, and should be familiar with PC basics including partitions, file systems, directories, files, and fundamental TCP/IP networking concepts. You need basic administration know-how in a Windows environment. While existing Linux knowledge would be helpful, it is not absolutely required.
